SPEEDBOAT is a Hollywood-based design studio, construction firm, and real estate workshop established in 2019, delivering concept-driven, detailing-forward residential, commercial, and cultural projects for owners, investors, and brands in Los Angeles and beyond. At the heart of our practice is an authentic, unmediated connection to history, theory, labor, and materiality.
Recognized as one of Archinect's '20 Must-Watch Emerging U.S.-Based Practices', our group collaborates with local and international networks of designers, builders, investors, and artists to create uncommon value. Our work is informed by scale, climate, context, materiality, and history, and it comes into life with warmth, clarity, and craft.
Philosophy
We keep things fun, open, and imaginative but take quality execution seriously. Our work is both contemporary and historical in its outlook, grounded in formal training across architectural history, design thinking, and technical detailing for construction systems and methods. The starting point for any project is physical, spatial, and narrative-driven rather than referential: how a surface performs, how it ages, how it contributes to the atmosphere of a room. We work with artists, craftspeople, and fabricators to produce custom hardware, furniture, ceramics, and metalwork that becomes integral to the architecture. Light, thermal comfort, and acoustics are design decisions, not afterthoughts. We pursue quiet, natural luxury over synthetic or derivative luxury, sustaining the people who live and work in our buildings over time through non-toxic materials and good assemblies.
