In collaboration with the owner, an automotive design executive, we reorganized the primary suite of this bluffside estate to include a new private office and a generous walk-in closet, taking inspiration from this residence's storied past and adding a fresh take on its styling. Sleek matte black fixtures contrast with brushed brass original hardware, while clean lines and reflective light balance warm peach and tropical green hues. We clad the walls in Martinique banana leaf wallpaper from CW Stockwell—a nod to the home’s former resident, Remy Chatain, wallpaper magnate and designer of the iconic print adorning the Beverly Hills Hotel. The lush, verdant motif serves as a dynamic backdrop, tempered by the cool, muted tones of the honed terrazzo floors and limewash wall treatments. Custom walnut millwork sits beneath integral travertine sinks to deliver restrained warmth. Mid-century modern meets Hollywood Regency meets Contemporary Minimalism in this novel tribute to the sophisticated history of this glamorous mansion.
